Ok, so osint right? I’ll admit the main idea of this challenge is very geoguessery but there are definitely OSINT elements to make your life a lot easier.

This challenge did not require contacting my mother.

Challenge outline:

Looking for a pub.

Notable things we can examine:

We can first analyse the information given to us in the image to identify some key pointers of what to expect.

One thing immediately that stands out is the sign, saying “Rhybudd” and “Perygl” if you squint. These are clearly not English words so a quick google search can quickly identify what language this belongs to.

So we can identify this location is somewhere in Wales and in a costal area through the visual imaging of a sealine from the main image.

We can also see that there is clearly a dominos being used, so one way to approach would be to pull up dominos pizza stores within Wales and focus in on areas with stores close to the coast, which helps us narrow down some areas it could be in.

There seems quite a cluster around the coast though, so we can use the most crucial part of the image, the islands in the image, one being really close and one being in the distance.

This allows us to determine that this place is very close to a landmass around the Welsh coastline, but also an island off in the middle distance. So we manually can go around the Welsh coast line until we find an island that's very close to a beach, ill admit this can be tedious, to identify these land masses better I recommend satellite view so islands are more visible while we scan around (but thats not in this writeup).
